setting shot

setting shot
a split shot used on float rigs. It is attached 15-20 cm away from the hook when that stretch of line is lying on the bottom. When a fish takes the bait, it lifts the shot off the bottom and the extra weight is transferred to the float which sinks to indicate the bite
